Cluster Manual

Clusters are the core building blocks of the Matter protocol. Each Cluster defines a set of related Attributes (state fields) and Commands (operations). This manual covers 82 Clusters organized by Matter specification categories. Click a card to view details.

Look up a Cluster by ID

Have a Cluster ID (e.g. 0x0101 or 257 from a log)? Type it in to see which cluster it is and jump to its manual page. A Cluster ID is 4 bytes in full; standard clusters omit the vendor prefix 0x0000. See ID structure.

How to Read Cluster Detail Pages

Each Cluster detail page is organized as follows:

  • Cluster ID — the hex number in the title. It is 32-bit in full; the upper 16 bits are a vendor prefix (0x0000 for standard clusters, usually omitted). Use the lookup box above to reverse-search
  • Overview — What the Cluster does and which Endpoint it typically appears on
  • Attributes — All state fields, grouped by function, with types and enum values annotated
  • Commands — Supported operations, with parameters and security requirements annotated
  • Data Examples — Real device JSON data with field-by-field annotations to help you understand
